I have been invited to participate in an exciting exhibition at the Venice Biennale 2015. We Must Risk Delight: Twenty Artists from Los Angeles is curated by Elizabeta Betinski, founder of bardoLA, a Los Angeles based 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization.
As an official Collateral Event of the Venice Biennale, the exhibition is slated to open to the public on May 9th, 2015. The venue, the beautiful Magazzino del Sale, is a state-of-the-art contemporary space operated by one of the oldest institutions of art education, the Accademia di Belle Arti. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase my paintings at one of the world’s most prestigious international art events.
I plan to exhibit my two large tunnel paintings from Liminal View, my third solo exhibition in Los Angeles. Both paintings assume the point of view from within the tunnel looking outward, as if swallowed whole. They embody my experience of being in that transitional space and suggest its psychological dimension.
bardoLA is currently seeking patronage for this exhibition. Contributions will help to cover the costs of shipping, insurance and the rent for the venue in Venice. For more information on how you can show your support, click here.
