From the SFGate blog:
“Two hundred pieces of original art, ranging from metal sculptures to oil paintings, have been commissioned for the new 49ers stadium in Santa Clara.
Twenty-three artists, mostly from California, have been commissioned to make the art. To see samples, click Art Collection at Levi’s Stadium. These original pieces will mingle among more than 500 vintage photographs of the 49ers, including never-seen images found in the archive of Frank Rippon, team photographer at the start, in 1946.
The artwork will debut when the stadium opens for a San Jose Earthquakes soccer match on Aug. 2 and to 49ers fans with the first pre-season game on Aug. 17. Separate art tours will also be offered. The program is being administered by Sports and the Arts.”
*Note: The Art Collection at Levi’s Stadium will now be debuting August 1st, 2014.
